
Suryakund Hydro Electric Limited is a hydropower company focused on the development, construction, and operation of hydroelectric projects in Nepal. Originally incorporated on Jestha 30, 2064 as a private limited company, it was converted into a limited company on Asar 21, 2080. Its registered office is in Kathmandu, while its main project, the 11 MW Tadi Khola Hydropower Project, is located in Dupcheshwar, Nuwakot District.
The company received its electricity production permit from the Ministry of Energy on Ashwin 22, 2072, with 26 years of validity remaining. The total project cost is NPR 2.37 billion, and commercial production began on Shrawan 12, 2082. The project has a simple payback period of 7.71 years and a discounted payback period of 16 years.
Suryakund Hydro’s board of directors currently has three members: Sanjiv Nyaupane (Chair), Madhusudan Koirala (Executive Director), and Sirjana Khadka (Director). The company plans to invest in commercially viable hydropower projects, optimize water resource utilization, supply electricity to the Nepal Electricity Authority, and provide attractive dividends to investors after three years. Its goal is to establish itself as a leading hydropower company contributing to Nepal’s energy self-reliance.
